Today I went to see Toyin Ibidapo’s exhibition at Doors Showcase in Rivington Street, a very intimate selection of photographs. I have followed her work since around 2005 and have always found it beautiful and raw in the way she portrays her subjects. But today I was particularly inspired by the words she wrote as introduction to her retrospective book Cult of Boys, I highly suggest to read it.. It is very understated, yet strong while recounting about her early approaches to photography and on her later choice of focusing solely on portraits of young boys. There is also a really nice preface by Tim Walker.
